New Appointment Booking System
As part of our commitment to increasing patient access to our services
we are piloting a new and improved 24 hour online appointment booking system. This system will allow online access to appointments for all our GPs and our Nurse Practitioner. However, all nurse
appointments e.g. blood tests, blood pressures, diabetic reviews, will need to be made via the telephone.
After initial registration, this new system will allow patients to book, cancel or check appointments on the Web, whatever time or day, and send you immediate confirmation of the booking, as you will automatically be added to the appointment list.
As well as 24 hours online booking access, we hope, in time, to be able to offer patients the choice of additional on-line services such as the ability to review useful medical records such as vaccinations, treatments or medication, repeat prescription ordering, making address changes, and more.
First of all you must register to use the internet appointment booking facility. Your security is paramount, for that reason, please come to reception with a proof of ID, we can then issue you with a username and password.
Once the registration process is complete, you can log on to the appointments systems using your individual patient number and password, and will be able to view appointments you have already made, cancel them if necessary, and book an appointment with your doctor after checking the times available.
That’s it! Once you’ve booked an appointment online, you will receive confirmation immediately. There is no need to re-confirm by e-mail or telephone – just arrive promptly on the day!
Those of you who are familiar with our previous on-line booking facility may be wondering why you now have to register to book. The reason is that this new system provides added security which we hope will enable us to provide additional on-line services such as the ability to review useful medical records such as vaccinations, treatments or medication, repeat prescription ordering, making address changes, and more.
In line with our confidentiality and security policies regarding patient information consideration of the security of our patients’ information all communications with the practice web site are encrypted, using the same high security that major banks use for their internet transactions (128 bit SSL). Only you can see the personal information you enter. The web site is administered at a remote high-security site managed by EMIS, not at the practice, so there is no possibility of unauthorised access.
